108,000, 10.7% more than in the winter season of 2015

Airlines have scheduled 20,079,654 million seats in Barcelona-El Prat Airport for the 2016-2017 winter season, representing an increase of 13.4% over the same period last year. The number of scheduled movements has also increased by 10.7%, with more than 108,000 business operations. Regarding the number of routes, airlines have scheduled 272, which means 17 routes more than in the winter season of 2015-2016.

By region

As for geographical areas, the increase in supply to Asia stands out, experiencing growth of 38.5% with 141,124 seats scheduled. It is followed by the African continent, which over the same period last year has increased its supply by 21.1%, representing a total of 570,198 seats. Domestic supply has also grown 18.3% with more than six million scheduled seats; and interest in the Latin American market is up 15.4% (more than 229,000 seats).

Airlines have also scheduled more than 11 million seats with Europe (+ 10.9%) and more than 676,000 with the Middle East (+ 10.1%).

By country

Countries where airlines have offered a greater number of seats are Spain, with 6.27 million (+ 18.3%); the UK, with 2.19 million (+ 25.6%); Italy, with 1.8 million (+ 6.9%); Germany, with 1.6 million (+ 1.6%); and France with 1.5 million seats (+ 7.4%).

New routes

In the winter season 2016-2017, 28 new routes are expected to start operating at Barcelona-El Prat Airport compared to the 2015 winter season. Specifically, Barcelona-El Prat Airport will be connected to 27 domestic destinations, 97 European ones and 26 intercontinental ones. Scheduled seats and movements for the winter season 2016-2017 may be subject to change by airlines.
