According to the Spanish Federation of Lumber Companies (CONFEMADERA), in 2011 exports of lumber products, excluding furniture, increased14.6% compared to 2010, yielding € 1.1 billion.

Galicia continues to lead the industry in exports with € 337.3 million, up 18.4% from 2010. Catalonia follows with € 158.3 million (+ 24.1%), Valencia with € 151.8 million (+8.8%), and Castile-Leon with € 87.6 million (- 6.2%).

The European Union remains the principal export market for Spanish lumber products with Portugal (€ 278.6 million) and France (€ 208.4 million) on top, followed by the UK with sales at € 96.9 million.

According to CONFEMADERA president Francis Huidobro, “exports are currently seen as a major factor in energizing the lumber industry, which has been seriously affected by the construction slump".
