The Indian manufacturer of components for the automotive industry will allocate 25 million euros to rebuild the plant in Polinyà - which caught fire in September - and 5 million more to the Ripollet plant. It will hire 100 more people. The company employs 1,342 people in Catalonia, although it hopes to increase the workforce in Polinyà by a hundred people that will be used to extend the factory. The autonomous region hosts four of the multinational company’s factories (it also has centres in Martorell and Castellbisbal), which generate 20% of the total turnover. According to the financial reports available on its website, Samvardhana Motherson closed its last fiscal year (March 2013), with record revenues of 4,600 million dollars. Samvardhana Motherson announced this investment in the framework of the institutional trip that the president of the Generalitat, Artur Mas, is currently on in India. The president of the Indian group, Vivek Chand Sehgal, thanked the Government that has helped them "to seek business opportunities" in Catalonia, where it currently has five factories.
