• Barcelona exceeded 130,000 tonnes in 2016 with 14% growth over the previous year. It is growing above the Spanish average (11.2%) after years of stagnation around 100,000 tons.

• As for distribution by companies, Emirates takes the lead in Barcelona air cargo, surpassing the integrators for the first time. Turkish Airlines becomes the fifth airport company with spectacular growth of 66% owing to the new exclusive Turkish Cargo routes. These increases ensure consistent access to Asian markets with goods flying from Barcelona.

• Imports and exports from Barcelona are globally balanced, but not by markets. American companies tend to export from Barcelona, whereas companies from the Middle East and Turkey accumulate imports from Barcelona.
