Routes to Asia are a priority according to the strategic objetives of the Barcelona Air Routes Development Committee (BARDC). Within the 2024-2025 Strategic Plan of the BARDC, the Barcelona-Seoul (Republic of South Korea) route is considered key, and the BARDC has given it its full support for it to be established in Barcelona. This route is experiencing high demand and steady growth, driven by the attractiveness of Barcelona, commercial and institutional relations, and the values that Korean citizens place on Catalan art, culture, gastronomy, and climate.
In quantitative terms, in 2023, total direct O&D passenger traffic between the two cities exceeded 163,000, and over 86,000 indirect demand O&D passengers (Fecha: MIDT Sable 2023). In recent years, this high demand has confirmed Seoul and Korea as a dynamic, fully growing market. Thus, the data show that there is a need to increase capacity on this route as soon as possible to meet this high demand.
T’way Air is a South Korean low-cost airline based in Seoul’s two airports (Gimpo and Incheon – South Korea) since 2010.
