Barcelona, 20 October 2026 – The Barcelona Air Route Development Committee (BARDC) is to take part in the 31st edition of Routes World, with the aim of establishing new contacts and boosting intercontinental air traffic at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport. The event takes place in Frankfurt from 21 to 23 October.
It is the leading international gathering for the aviation industry, bringing together up to 3,000 delegates from more than 110 countries, including decision-makers from airlines and airports, tourism authorities, and industry suppliers. Routes World provides a platform for shaping the future of global air connectivity.
The institutions making up BARDC continue to work together to attract and support airlines operating on priority routes, while exploring specific opportunities such as air cargo and tailored new routes.
As in previous editions, the BARDC delegation will have their own stand, bringing together the four members — the Government of Catalonia/Airports of Catalonia, Aena, Barcelona City Council, and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce — with the support of the Catalan Tourist Board.
This year, Barcelona is participating as the host city for Routes World 2027. Catalonia will once again welcome the event, with the aim of strengthening Barcelona’s intercontinental connectivity and enhancing its global competitiveness.
A busy agenda to expand connectivity
BARDC has scheduled a series of meetings aimed at strengthening connectivity with markets in the Americas and Asia, increasing frequencies, and expanding the number of destinations in North American and Latin American markets.
The Routes World 2026 programme includes meetings with airlines and airports to continue improving air connectivity, whether by increasing frequencies on high-demand routes or attracting new connections, in line with BARDC’s latest Strategic Plan for 2026–2030.
BARDC aims to connect Barcelona with major global centres for business, economic activity, culture, and tourism, thereby generating significant social benefits.
