Aeromexico resumes its direct connection between Mexico City and Barcelona

1.Aeromexico will connect Barcelona and Mexico City with 6 weekly flights using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner

2.The links between Barcelona and Mexico City are solid: the Mexican capital is among the main destinations for air exports from Barcelona, which is, in turn, one of the main origins of air imports from the region, as well as having a significant local Mexican community, intense tourist flows in both directions, and strong business ties

3.The recovery of this route is part of the objectives of the Strategic Plan of the Barcelona Air Route Development Committee (BARDC) 2024-2025

Monday, November 10, 2025, 5 p.m.: The new Mexico City - Barcelona route, operated by Aeromexico, represents a significant advance in the city's international connectivity for both passengers and air cargo. This achievement is the result of intense joint work between the airline and the Barcelona Air Route Development Committee (BARDC). This body is made up of Aena – airport manager of Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport – Generalitat de Catalunya, Barcelona City Council, and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, with the support of strategic entities such as Turespaña, the Catalan Tourism Agency, Acció, and the Barcelona Tourism Board.

Aeromexico will connect Mexico City and Barcelona with 6 weekly frequencies from March 28, 2026, to October 24, 2026:

In 2024 alone, the flow of passengers between Barcelona and Mexico City was 156,000; of whom 44,000 passengers were indirect (Source: MIDT-Sabre O&D).

With this new route through Aeromexico's hub in Mexico City, the main cities in the country such as Guadalajara, Monterrey, Cancun, Tijuana and more will also be connected, as well as cities in North America such as Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, among others.
