Monday, November 10, 2025, 5 p.m.: The new Mexico City - Barcelona route, operated by Aeromexico, represents a significant advance in the city's international connectivity for both passengers and air cargo. This achievement is the result of intense joint work between the airline and the Barcelona Air Route Development Committee (BARDC). This body is made up of Aena – airport manager of Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport – Generalitat de Catalunya, Barcelona City Council, and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, with the support of strategic entities such as Turespaña, the Catalan Tourism Agency, Acció, and the Barcelona Tourism Board.
Aeromexico will connect Mexico City and Barcelona with 6 weekly frequencies from March 28, 2026, to October 24, 2026:

In 2024 alone, the flow of passengers between Barcelona and Mexico City was 156,000; of whom 44,000 passengers were indirect (Source: MIDT-Sabre O&D).
