Asiana Airlines recovers Barcelona - Seoul route

Barcelona – Seoul recovered route by Asiana Airlines

The Barcelona Air Routes Development Committee (BARDC) within its Strategic Plan 2021-2024, has as its primary objective the recovery of the routes/companies that operated before the pandemic, increase the capacity in some existing destinations with high demand but little supply, as well as increase new routes to new destinations.

Asia is one of the most important intercontinental markets for Barcelona/Catalonia. The Republic of South Korea is among the CDRA’s main target countries.

The recovery of this route was vital for Barcelona/Catalonia and after the monitoring and meetings throughout the pandemic and, additionally, our institutional visit to their headquarters in Seoul where we thanked the Government of the Republic of South Korea and Asiana for their total confidence in our destination.
As of today, we will once again have a direct connection to a country with more than 51 million inhabitants and where Barcelona already has a great brand image.

Timetables and frequencies (Tuesdays and Fridays) since 23JUL22:
OZ511 Seoul (ICN) – Barcelona 12:45 19:10
OZ512 Barcelona – Seoul (ICN) 21:00 16:45+1
Boeing 777 – Cabins (C 22 seats / Y 278 seats )

Asiana Airlines, a member of Star Alliance, received 2021 awards for the best airline for in-flight service and best airline for flight attendants from Global Traveler, which they have won for 18 consecutive years.
Asia is one of the most important intercontinental markets for Barcelona/Catalonia.

There is an unserved demand in South Korea of 152,974 passengers who flew indirectly in 2019 (169,800 passengers flew direct), with 11.8% of these passengers flying Business Class and a 23% growth that year compared to the previous year. This demand does not show much seasonality (Data source: origin-destination/non-directional/MIDT/Sabre).
The passenger type is motivated by cultural and entertainment tourism, shopping, ….. Business passengers are also expected to be related to Korean companies in Catalonia and v.v.
