Barcelona links to Chile
Barcelona and Santiago de Chile are two cities known for their leadership in the field of innovation and industrial and social transformation. Santiago is the capital and largest city of Chile as well as one of the largest cities in the Americas. It is the center of Chile’s largest and the most densely populated conurbation. The city is entirely located in the beautiful central valley, at an elevation of 520 m (1,706 ft) above mean sea level.
Every year, more than 60.000 passengers fly indirectly between the two cities, part of the 1,1 million passengers that still fly indirectly between Barcelona and Latin America.
With an average yearly growth rate of 8% (CAGR) during the last 5 years and a growth of 47%% in the indirect air traffic since 2012, the Santiago de Chile – Barcelona air route is the first largest unserved South America destination from BCN, followed by Santo Domingo and Guayaquil.
There is a high level of premium passengers in the route. The local companies in Santiago and the synergies they have with the companies in the Barcelona area, create a demand for “premium” traffic in the route: 10% of the total traffic flies in a premium seat; this means that 1 of every 10 passengers travels in a business or first class seat.
Nowadays, there are no direct flights between Barcelona and Chile. This unexploited market is large, rich and with a marked desire to fly to Barcelona.
