NORWEGIAN LAUNCHES NEW ROUTE CONNECTING BARCELONA and LOS ANGELES TODAY!
Norwegian start the first long-haul routes with Boeing 787-800 Dreamliners to its base at Barcelona from today!
The low- cost long-haul routes to the US market are:
Barcelona – Los Angeles from June 5 with 2 frequencies per week (Monday and Friday); from August 22, three frequencies per week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday).
The leading air traffic market for Barcelona is North America
The United States is the largest market in passenger traffic volume to Barcelona. Every year more than one million people fly between the city and the North American country, approximately 73% of whom (about 800,000) do it indirectly through other airports in the world. California is the first US market in non-served traffic with 145,000 passengers in 2015 between Barcelona and Los Angeles or San Francisco, approximately 18% of traffic between the city and the United States.
Of the five destinations that link the country directly with Barcelona, New York is the top destination in traffic between Barcelona and America, transporting more than 180,000 passengers in 2015 between the two cities, and is still a great market to cover with a new direct flight. San Francisco, Boston, Chicago and Dallas are other non-served major destinations from Barcelona.
Moreover, there is a high level of “premium” passengers between the two markets, 13% of passengers traveling in business class or first class, representing more than one in seven passengers. Such passage boosted quality, business travelers to the city.
