Vueling launches its new route between Barcelona and Essaouira and becomes the only direct connection between the two cities
- This route will be available twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays
Barcelona, July,7, 2025 - Vueling, part of the IAG group, yesterday launched its new direct route between Barcelona and Essaouira, on Morocco's Atlantic coast. With two weekly frequencies – on Thursdays and Sundays – this connection becomes the only one linking both cities during the summer season.
Sandra Hors, Public Affairs at Vueling, and members of the Barcelona Air Route Development Committee at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BARDC): Vanessa Requena Arnau, Head of the Management Office of Aena's Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport; Elisabeth Oliva, Head of Communication of ‘Aeroports de Catalunya’ – Government of Catalonia; Marc Unió, Head of International Economic Promotion of Barcelona City Council; and Jaume Adrover, Secretary BARDC – Barcelona Chamber of Commerce; together with other institutional representatives, inaugurated this first flight, which took off from Barcelona yesterday, 3 July.

With the launch of its new route to Essaouira, Vueling has completed the five new international connections it had planned from Barcelona for this summer. All these routes are now operational: Tivat (Montenegro), Tirana (Albania), and Rimini and Salerno (Italy).
